Candy Tablescapes

You might remember I am doing a "Friends are Sweet." holiday brunch theme this year so I have been spending time looking at candy inspired things!  Here's a cute tablescape from The Little Round Table. I love the simple white and red!

So far I have lots of ideas in red and white (but I love the Gingerbread ideas too) so I'm not sure exactly what I want it to look like....so the search is still on for the perfect "sweet" decor for the brunch.

Happy July Rudolph Day

Wow....it's July 25th...time to really kick it in gear as far as holiday prep goes!  July is stocking stuffer month so you still have a few days left to get your stocking stuffers bought and tucked away for Christmas!

This month I crafted vintage paper trees, yarn trees and still hope to try out one other tree craft!  I added the lovely white tree pictured above to my collection. I bought it at Holiday World in Santa Claus Indiana.

My goal for the rest of the month is to get my Christmas Notebook all up to date with cookies for 2012, menu plans, updated stocking stuffers list and updated gift list too! 

Good List Certificate

At Santa's Candy Castle you could use a computer program to talk with an elf. The elf then submitted the results to Santa and Santa let's you know if you are on the nughty or nice list...!!!

Looks like Evan made it...but as the elf warned...there's a lot more days before Christmas!

Santa Claus Indiana

Well Christmas in July is slipping away, I've had so many trips this month that it's been difficult to blog as much as I'd like. I have a back log of post ideas that I will continue to share with you in the coming months!  Thursday we leave bright and early for Santa Claus Indiana...what a perfect place to visit during Christmas in July!

And of course I'll be stopping by here!!

And we will be staying at Santa's Lodge! 

And a trip to Holiday World is on the agenda!

And maybe Santa's Museum and the post office!

and Frosty's Fun Center!

 And maybe even.....Santa's Candy Castle!!

Yarn Trees Part 1

I had a hard time finding yarn I wanted to use. I wanted something in varying shades of green but there really wasn't any. Nor any true reds either!  So I went with this cherry which has cream, pink, and a sort of dark pink or mauve in it. I made three trees.

The star is actually a cheap faery wand that I bought at the dollar store. I broke the handle and stuck it in the top of the largest tree. I am playing around with the idea of taking it back off and using snow glitter on it. I think it might make it "softer" and therefore fit with the color scheme better. I still need something for the tops of the other two and some little ornaments to add. I am not doing very well finding anything that suits in my stash so it might be awhile before I get to finish them!

They were easy to make, relatively inexpensive and look cute in a group of three.  I would like to use the same concept with twine because my livingroom theme is "rustic" and I think they would be a nice addition!

Free Printable Candy Stickers

Vintage Rosette Ornaments

I must be thinking music this week. Earlier I made the paper trees using pages from an old hymnal and then this ornament caught my eye!  Rosetter Ornaments made from none other than pages from an old song book!  Isn't it adorable?  You can find the step by step directions over at Lark and Lola,

Little Trees and Other Things

Some of the paper trees I made yesterday. I'm thinking about buying some little silver stars and putting one on the top of each tree. I want to keep them simple but feel they need a topper.

Next week, I'm trying another type of tree....I am thinking it might be this one!

Vintage Trees

For my first "tree" craft this year I am going to try these cute vintage paper trees. You can make three different sizes with the littlest one being a good ornament size.  Some others have also suggested trying to make them out of scrapbook paper, so I might give that a whirl too!

Christmas in July

It's Christmas in July and I'm thinking TREES!  My goal is to make a lot this month but since I have a couple four day trips, our summer party and other duties, I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can actually get some made!
