Happy February Rudolph Day!

It's February Rudolph Day. February is all about crafts so on Rudolph Day...I'm going to work on the craft room. Not totally Rudolph related but definitely needed. I wanted to show you some of the work so far....

This are little tote bags that I bought on clearance several years ago for like 50 cents each.  They have been lingering so I decided to put them to work as craft storage.  They are right now holding some various odds and ends but once things are a little further along I plan on making them the ribbon, string and garland storage "spot."

Several years ago I bought a paper storage tower, which has like 18 slots in it for 12 x 12 paper. I like the concept but I hate the hodge podge look of the tower with all of the paper on the shelves. Recently, after measuring I decided to buy some plain white pizza boxes that fit perfectly in the little sections. I labeled them by color and also have some for patterns, holiday, and seasons. Now the tower looks super organized! AND before you say it...I know they may not be acid free but I'm willing to use them to get a better organized look!

Here's another tower with different sized boxes (these are acid free). I bought some of them at Walmart and some at Hobby Lobby. They work well for organizing stuff by theme or as shown here the stuff for creating calendars.

You can find these little organizers at dollar stores, Target dollar spot and other places. This one hangs on the back of the door and holds tags, ribbons and other small todbits for wrapping.

Now you would think from the pictures that I have everything under control...NOT....there is still a ton of stuff to sort through and organize. Three fourths of the room is total chaos. I'm hoping slowly but surely to get it under control.

Theme Thursday: Snow Day

Okay....I didn't have any posts in reserve for Theme Thursday...and today we are having a SNOW DAY....so I have been playing on Facebook, baking cookies, and fixing a big pot of soup instead of taking care of business for Theme Thursday.

But I'll share some winter photos with you today.

This view from the backyard. The snowflakes are huge and we are getting thunder with our snow!

We have a nice coating and it is still snowing but we will not get anywhere near what they got in Kansas and Oklahoma

Happy Snow Day

Theme Thursday: Red and White Stuff

It's time for another Theme Thursday post and I'll be sharing some random red and white things. Pull them together and you can make some sweet table settings.

Here are a couple styles of glasses that I've picked up. The tumblers look like stained glass and are specific to Christmas. The other style is actually plastic, picked up on clearance at Walmart and can be used for Christmas or other themes.

These are a flea market find...little red dessert cups. I actually think they are Avon. I have a set of 8. So cute for Christmas or Valentine's Day.

This is a little minature set also picked up at the flea market. So cute on a little white doily in the center of a table with some table scatter around it.

Here's a little snowman I just received Christmas 2012. He's actually a little candy jar. I love his red and white scarf.

Here's an inexpensive table setting and can be used for red and white or for a snow/snowman theme. The charger is from a dollar store and the plate and bowl are flea market finds. I have a set of four. I'm always on the lookout for snowman or Christmas dishes because they look cute mixed and matched so even if it's not a full set I am tempted to pick it up!

Here it is without the bowl so you can see the plate better. the chargers get lots of use because they are great for Christmas and look great using a white plate at Valentine's Day. I have also used them for 4th of July table settings and with fall colored plates in autumn.

So I hope you like my assortment of red and white finds. With a little imagination it is simple to pull together some cute tables!

February is Crafty Kits Month

Can't believe it is February 1st already!  This is crafty kits month. Time to organize those craft materials so you can actually make something with them.  Although this is primarily about setting up craft kits I am also going to use the month to make a list of what I can realistically make this year. I always seem to think WAY bigger than I can actually accomplish.

Last year I made labels for 12 crafts and stored them in manila envelops. There are a variety of ways to organize your projects and only you can pick the one that works best for you. Plastic tubs, ziploc bags, lunch boxes.
